Constant Rate Steaming

Up to 25% gas use reduction can be achieved by using the GlassPoint Solar array to directly generate steam for injection into wells. During sunny hours, solar steam is injected and during dark hours, gas-generated steam is injected. Control systems automatically adjust the gas-firing rate so that constant rate steam injection is maintained.

With this method, the gas use reduction is directly proportional to the ratio of the number of sunny hours to dark hours for the specific location of the project. In California, approximately 20% of the hours are sunny, in the Arabian Gulf, 25% of the hours are sunny.
