Glasshouse Enclosure

GlassPoint steam generators deliver five times as much steam per unit area of land than tower systems, three times as much as trough systems, and twice as much as linear fresnel. One of the key reasons for this difference is the high optical efficiency of the GlassPoint single transit trough system.

In contrast, conventional systems have a light path with two, and sometimes three, transits through glass.

Less Soiling

Dirt accumulation becomes worse the closer the optical surface is to the ground. The soiling rate at 4 feet above ground level is double the soiling rate at 20 feet. Conventional solar systems have their reflective surfaces at ground level.

In a GlassPoint system, most of the light comes through the roof, which is 20 feet above grade level. Put simply, GlassPoint optical surfaces don't get dirty as quickly.

More Cleaning

Our glasshouses have automated robotic cleaning systems. These highly reliable machines automatically clean the roof at night to ensure that the light-transmitting surface is always clean.

Wash water is captured in the gutters and recycled, leading to the lowest water use of any solar array.

By taking the manual labor element out of the equation, the GlassPoint system reduces operating costs, HSE issues and water use.
