Rapid Oilfield Deployment

GlassPoint solar steam generators are made from mass manufactured modular components. The entire system is fabricated offsite and delivered in 40’ ISO shipping containers. Once at the site, assembly is straightforward and inexpensive leading to greatly reduced installation costs.

The video above shows a GlassPoint solar field going from bare earth to working solar field in just six weeks.

Software, Not Installers

An oil field is no place to be manufacturing precision optical components. Unlike earlier systems that manufactured their optical subsystems onsite, our modular design allows offsite fabrication.

The glasshouse structure is manufactured in high volume with relatively low precision. Our mirror panels, however, are mass manufactured to tight tolerances on special tooling that maximizes repeatability of the mirror shape.

The secret to combining the low-tolerance structure with GlassPoint's high-tolerance mirrors to form a highly accurate and resilient solar array is our adaptive software and sensing systems.

Multiple sensors track the sun's position in the sky and the energy delivered to the receiver in real-time. The tracking system adjusts the mirror position relative to the structure so that it is remains optically aligned at all times.

Older systems rely on painstaking manual alignment and adjustment of individual mirror panels, which is not a practical option for large scale deployment at remote oilfield locations.
